Eligibility
Teeth-whitening is excellent for those who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) along with healthful gums. Patients that have a yellowish hue for their teeth tend to achieve better results.

Teeth whitening isn't recommended for:

  • Patients with sensitive gums and teeth, receding gums and defective restorations.
  • Patients under the age of eighteen as they have more porous enamel and larger nerves leading to significant sensitivity.
  • Patients with a known allergy to peroxide.
How It Works
At Dental Team On 118, we use the technologically-advanced Oral Sciences X-PUR Whitening System used with take-home trays.

The procedure is easy and minimally-invasive with proven effectiveness.

  • Step 1 - We will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth to ensure you are a good candidate for this treatment. Our dental team will also discuss oral hygiene and lifestyle habits to optimize teeth whitening outcomes.
  • Step 2 - One week prior to your appointment, we'll schedule you for a dental cleaning. This will eliminate any calculus or plaque on your teeth so that the whitening can work effectively.
  • Step 3 - The X-PUR Whitening System will be applied, with careful consideration to avoid any discomfort on your gums.
Expected Results
While stains such as tar/nicotine from cigarette smoke tend to be harder to remove, shallow stains like the ones from particular food items, beverages and standard wear respond well to teeth whitening techniques.
Post-Treatment Care
After the teeth whitening appointment, we strongly recommend the use of Sensodyne or Colgate Sensitive toothpaste to help alleviate any tooth sensitivity. You may rub this toothpaste into particularly sensitive areas. Simply apply with your finger and DO NOT rinse after application.

For the first 24 hours after your whitening appointment, completely avoid consuming red wine, dark cola, coffee, tea, red sauces, mustard, ketchup, soy sauce, A-1 sauce, tobacco products or anything which might cause stains.
Cost
The cost of whitening treatment is $250. Touch up kits also available for patients with whitening trays for a small fee.
